CHILLED OVERNIGHT STAY
The hardest part will be finding the perfect location.
Will it be a beach campsite? Country escape? Five star hotel in the city centre?
When making your choice, think about your best friend and the areas she loves most. By putting a little thought into where you go, you'll make the overall experience that much more special.
Handy Tip:
Glamping tents can be set up in a range of weird and wonderful locations. Picture it - a luxurious night of camping adventures awaits in one her favourite locations. Or for a truly unique yet homely experience, in your backyard!
GET A LITTLE BIT NAUGHTY
The best way to introduce low-key cheek; get a little creative.
An art class like no other – uncontrollable giggles and hilarious masterpieces are just one life drawing session away. Rather not see a phallus in the flesh? Then perhaps some sculptures would better suit your day! A unique experience and take-home favour all in one.
And finally, topless waiters. These wonderful men will not only add some fun and naughtiness to your low-key soiree, but they'll also help serve your food/beverages (meaning less for the hosts to think about). It's a win/win for everyone.

MOVIE NIGHT
The perfect activity for any film buff. Grab your best friends and choice of snacks (popcorn, choc tops, bubbles); it's time for a movie experience like no other. Set up your TV or projector screen, mattresses, blankets, pillows and the bride's favourite film; then sit back, relax and let the good times roll.
Want to take your movie game up a level? Why not incorporate your screening with a night away. Book accommodation and set up your 'theatre' there instead.
Handy Tip:
Take in your best friend's favourite musical (a.k.a. 'sing-along') movie; leading to many on-the-spot performances by guests and bride alike. You may also like to take in a movie at a unique theatre nearby. The smaller businesses have so much character; giving your event a unique twist.
POOL PARTY
The perfect combination of fun, sun, laughter and relaxation.
Does one of your bridesmaids own a house with a pool? Or perhaps you were able to snap up some stunning accommodation, waterside?
Prepare some cocktails, chilled tunes, deck chairs and inflatable lounges – because you and your gals will be getting your dose of vitamin d (sun guys... I’m talking about the sun) whilst enjoying the cooling effects of H20!
RELAX THE MIND & BODY
One of the best ways to relax the mind (and body) is through meditation. A group class will not only create a chilled atmosphere, but will also help guests' let go of any worries - meaning the day can be well and truly enjoyed.
For those after more of a physical challenge, yoga and Pilates are other wonderful options.
GET CREATIVE
If your bestie has an artistic streak, you may like to include a fun yet relaxed activity that gets those creative juices flowing! From clay crafts, creative workshops, flower crown making and floral arrangements, to life drawing classes, paint & sip workshops or even hiring a caricature artist; there are arty party options for everyone.

Summary of Low-Key Hen's Party Activities:

The Games
It’s not uncommon for hens requesting relaxed celebrations to also ask for no games. Absolutely listen to their wishes – it’s their special day and you want them to enjoy every moment!
That being said, if your bride-to-be is happy to play a few, we suggest making them low-key and optional. Some of our favourites include:
SNAP THAT
On a blackboard, provide party-goers with a list of different photos to snap throughout the day. These might include ‘a selfie with the bride-to-be’, ‘a photo of someone laughing’ and ‘a group photo’. Ask everyone to upload their images to a private Facebook group (or similar) after the event so that you can all look back on the fun (and your hen can treasure these special moments forever). Click here to view full game instructions.
DATE NIGHT
★Click here for beautiful, printable date night cards★
On a piece of paper, guests can write down date ideas for their hen and her soon-to-be husband. These could range from dinner and a movie to a relaxing day at the spa.
After the party, collect the ideas and place them in a scrapbook, box or bind to create a small booklet. This can be gifted to your best friend and her partner, who can enjoy making their way through the different ideas during their first year of marriage and beyond!
This game can also be played as 'Bucket List'; meaning instead of date ideas, guests write down activities and challenges for the couple. Find full bucket list game instructions by clicking here.
TRICK OR TREAT?!
Place a blackboard or sign on a table near the venue entrance that says 'Trick or Treat?'. In front of this sign have enough drinks for one per guest attending.
As people start to arrive, ask them to pick a beverage. The twist being that some are treats (e.g. cocktails, straight shots, etc.) and some are tricks (water, juice, etc.!).
LAWN/PARTY GAMES
Other fun options that suit a laid-back event include prosecco pong, limbo, giant jenga, bocce and any other lawn games your bride-to-be may enjoy.

Creative Photo Display Ideas (Quick Overview)
Photos aren't only a fun way to personalise celebrations, they also make for great decorations. Why? Because with a little creativity, your humble photo display can easily become the focal point of your room! Images can be converted into big heads (large face photos on popsicle sticks), cupcake toppers, badges, confetti, drink charms and ornaments. They can be displayed as collages, in frames, as bunting or slideshows. They can tell stories (such as a photo timeline of the soon-to-be bride and groom's relationship, up until their wedding day). And they can even become the most beautiful guest book - featuring a beautiful snap of each and every one of your family and friends!

BIG HEADS
Having soon-to-be hubby pop up in the most unusual ways is always a good time. And this is definitely one of the best. Turn your best friend's groom into a 'big head' that can be brought along to all of the festivities. The photo ops will be unreal!
Alternatives:
This is also a great way to include friends who can't make the event (for example, those who are currently overseas/travelling).
CUPCAKE TOPPERS
Sweet treats need a bit more personality? They could become the highlight of your dessert table with a little cheeky DIY.
Using scissors or craft cutters, chop some images of the bride into cute shapes (love hearts, circles, squares) and attach to toothpicks with a hot glue gun.
When dry, pop them in your cupcakes for instant, personalised party snacks!
FRAME IT
Attached to a wall, secured to fencing, placed neatly on a table, or even displayed on an easel; picture frames are a super simple and stylish way to display your hen's favorite snapshots.
And better yet?
With a little preparation, they can fit in with your theme seamlessly,
Colour Schemes:
Using certain hues at your event? Track down frames in the different colors featured throughout the rest of your décor.
Does your theme represent a particular era? Hit up some op shops to find some cool, vintage look options.
Keeping your picture displays simple and sleek? Stick to using only black or white frames.
How Will You Decorate?
Once you've decided on the colours, it's time to think about how you will decorate. Frames are wonderful because:
- They come in a range of sizes; no matter the area, there will always be an option to suit
- You can mix and match frame styles for a unique and fun display
- You can stick to similar frames (or sizes) for a continuous look
- You can create anything from a gallery wall to a sweet picture ledge
BADGES
After a subtle way to bring your group together? Why not create some hilarious badges that each and every guest (including the bride-to-be) can wear?
If purchasing in bulk, choose one epic photo (beautiful or cringe-worthy, the choice is yours) and have it made into cute button badges that can be handed out and worn on the day.
DIYing it? You may like to turn a range of photo prints into fun badges!

PHOTO BANNER
Photo banners are an easy yet beautiful way to display gorgeous moments in time. To create your own, all you have to do is:
- Print off a selection of your hen's favorite pictures. These could be from her childhood, with family members, from her relationship, out partying, etc.
- Cut twine (or string) to the required length.
- Carefully peg each image to the twine (we love using mini wooden pegs for this)
- Display at your venue as you would any other bunting or banner!
This can double as a game (What Age was the Bride?). Ask guests to guess what age the bride was in each image - the person with the most correct answers wins a prize.
Handy Tip:
Rather than pegging photos to twine, you could attach to string lights - ambiance and memories all in one.
PHOTO COLLAGE (WITH A TWIST)
Collages are a fab way to showcase a lot of photos in the one place. From funny moments in your bride-to-be’s life (tiny bub, awkward teen, crazy nights out) to her relationship – anything goes with this creative and beautiful mess.
And better yet? Due to the variety of ways they can be put together, collages will suit any venue (and just about any theme).
Size Matters:
The size of your collage will depend on where your party is, and the space you're happy to dedicate to it.
It could be small (images pinned to a pin-board or creatively displayed in a frame) or larger than life (cover lots of wall space with a range of smaller and larger pictures).
Location:
Hosting outside? Your collage could be displayed on an easel, attached to a freestanding backdrop, or on a table.
Indoors? As well as the above ideas, you can also show off your handy work by mounting framed collages on the wall or by bluetakking photos directly onto plaster (no frame required).
Style Your Collage Like a Pro:
Before anything else, decide on the 'look' you're after. Will it be sleek and sophisticated? Colourful and creative? A bit of both?
ADD PERSONALITY BY DOING 1 OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Variety: incorporate different image shapes and sizes
- Colour scheme: for example, using black & white images only. Or sticking to photos that use a particular filter (making them all flow).
- Special mementos: like a vision board! All guests can contribute by bringing along a memory - such as ticket stubs from a music festival they attended with the bride, a poem written just for this occasion, photos of the bride-to-be from their own collection, magazine cut-outs (words or images) that remind them of the bride, etc.
- Guest images: featuring images of the hen with each of her guests is not only a nice way to include everyone, but also a great ice-breaker (these piccies pave the way for back-stories)
- Favourite things: does the guest of honour have big love for something? Why not dedicate your collage to these favourite things? E.g. does she love coffee? Feature coffee images and photos of her drinking this delish beverage. Same can be done for the beach, holidays, food, etc.
- Tape it: use washi tape in your theme colours to attach some images
Build It Up:
Rather than having a collage ready to go for your celebration, why not make it appear throughout the day?
Set up a polaroid camera - with one exception. Every photo taken must be stuck to the 'dedicated wall'. As the day goes on, the collage will take shape.
What will result in a gorgeous decoration will also become a great keepsake for your guest of honour (there will be so many photos to look back on)!
Have Fun:
No matter the style, location or size - make sure you have lots of fun with it and let your best friend's personality shine through!
PHOTO CONFETTI
A cute way to decorate your tables - photo confetti.
To make, print your images off small and cut into circles (or squares, or rectangles, whatever shape your heart desires). Then scatter across any areas that need a little extra pizazz (such as the coffee table).

TYPES OF PHOTOS THAT WORK WELL AS 'CONFETTI'
- Funny images of your hen throughout the years
- Pictures from the bride-to-be's relationship with her soon-to-be hubby
- Images of the bride with each of her guests
- Funny photos of the groom
- A mix of all of the above
Handy Tip:
If you have a paper craft punch cutting tool this can be used to get a seamless shape. You may also like to create shapes in different sizes (e.g. circles that are small, medium and large) for a unique look.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
- Find photos of your bride-to-be (baby, teen, now). If you want to get people laughing, pick the most hilarious images from the batch. Want it to be a sweeter gesture? Those photos where your gal is looking her best are a guaranteed win!
- Make sure you have as many pictures as there are guests attending (plus a couple extras just in case)
- Print these piccies off as small as possible
- Source cups for your celebration (these could be wine glasses, glass jars, personalised cups, champagne flutes) and attach one photo to the stem or handle of each.
At the party, guests can select a glass and easily keep track of it (just look for the image they chose!). A fab ice-breaker and super handy, this is a great way to display photos that we highly recommend.
PHOTO ORNAMENTS
Come Christmas time, stunning photo ornaments are draped over trees – enjoyed for the month of December. But who’s to say they can’t be used at other occasions, too?
Bring back beautiful memories by having your bride’s favorite photos turned into gorgeous décor. Special moments from your bride’s relationship with her soon-to-be hubby are ideal for this. They will not only be a feature of her hen/bridal shower celebration, but will also be lovingly used on their Christmas tree for many years to come.
For outdoor celebrations, these photo ornaments can hang from nearby tree branches.
Partying indoors, or after a special centrepiece? Fill a vase with sticks and hang from those instead.

PHOTO SLIDESHOW
If you have a television available at your venue, make use of it with a cute photo and video slideshow.
Fun moments, funny images, hilarious films, etc. can be used and played throughout the celebration (sound down, of course!).
If you’re tech savvy, finding a way for images taken at the celebration to be incorporated into the slideshow is one AWESOME way to get everyone snapping and sharing pics from the day.
Handy Tip:
Set up a popcorn bar near the slideshow. Guests can then help themselves to a cheeky snack whilst they watch the big screen.
THE BRIDE'S GUESTS
If you have contacts for everyone on the guest list, ask if they can send through an image of themselves with the bride-to-be. Playdates as kids right through to partying as adults, you are bound to receive a range of wonderful photos (that will make your sentimental bride feel oh so loved!).
DISPLAYING THESE SNAPS ON THE BIG DAY:
- Displayed around the venue in cute photo frames
- Stuck into a book, one image per page. This leaves enough space for guests to write a special message for the bride-to-be next to their particular photo.
- Added to a collage.
- Used as photo 'drink charms' (see section above). Each guest can then take the glass/cup that features their photo.
- Made into a photo book. Have each guest send through an image and note for the bride-to-be (e.g. memories, well wishes, recipes for a successful marriage, etc.). Put it all together using an online photo book tool and order. This can then be presented to your best friend on her special day.
THEIR STORY SO FAR
A really sweet use of images. Remind everyone exactly why they're here celebrating with a little timeline story of the couple's relationship.
Start where it all began, highlighting important milestones (such as the first date, first holiday, first house, the proposal) and then finish with where it's going (e.g. the date of their wedding and possibly a short note about how excited everyone is to see what their future holds).
UNIQUE GUEST BOOK
Double trouble! This idea not only provides decorations for your event, but also a beautiful keepsake for your guest of honour.
What are we talking about? A 'guest book' wall.
This wondrous decoration will encourage photos to be snapped and messages to be written. And the best part? They're on display for the party to see AND they can be added to throughout the night (hello cheeky notes as the drinks start to flow!).
To set up:
- Step 1 - Print names: print each guest's name at the top of a piece of paper (one name per A4 or A5 piece). Make sure you leave enough space for photos and written messages. If you're after a rustic vibe, use kraft paper when printing.
- Step 2 - The display area: find a wall in your event space big enough to hold all of these printed pieces (this could be an actual wall, a pallet wall, a fence - get creative!
- Step 3 - Styling: Attach your named pieces of paper (either by hanging them like photo bunting, as described earlier in this article, or by bluetaking them to the surface).
- Step 4 - Get snap happy: Set up a polaroid camera and some pens on a table.
On the day, explain that each person has their own 'page' which can be decorated with polaroid photos, messages to the bride-to-be, funny moments from the party, etc. As messages are written and photos are taken, the guest book will take form - making for a unique and fun decoration!
Following the party, bind these pages together and gift to your best friend.

Picnic Party Ideas (Quick Overview)
Picnics are fun, beautiful and a great way to spend time with loved ones! But how do you pull it off? Well, it all starts with the location. Whether it be a park, backyard, beach or even inside your home; be sure that your chosen 'spot' has all of the necessities (parking, toilets, easy access, shade, no council restrictions). Then, turn your attention to the overall setup. Will there be a theme? What type of seating will be offered (chairs, blankets, cushions)? What decorations will you use (flowers, table runners, festoon lights)? And how will you get everything there? And finally, what will you serve? Simple yet filling finger-foods are great for picnics, as are grazing platters. Wine and/or champagne make for a fab beverage, as do jugs overflowing with water, juice or punch. And finally, bring the whole celebration together with some outdoor games and activities!

Location: Finding the Best Picnic Spot
When hosting a picnic party, location is key!
Will it be indoors or outdoors? At a house, in a hotel room, at the local park, near a beach, in your own backyard, or in a garden?
Whichever you decide, it needs to be suitable for your celebration.
‘Make sure you have parking options, toilets close by, and chairs for the elderly’, Kelly of Little Miss Party Planner suggests. Kelly also recommends checking with the local council that picnics are ok. ‘The last thing you need is a ranger telling you to move on!’, she says.
Ebby of Little Bird Events agrees, adding that you should ‘make sure the bride loves where you’re going, and if outdoors, scope it out beforehand [at the] same time of day your party will be; so you can check how busy it is and where the shady spots are’.
The more planning you do upfront, the better your day will flow in the end’, says Ebby.

WHEN LOOKING FOR THE BEST PICNIC SPOTS, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR:
- Parking options
- Public transport
- Toilets
- Shade (good options include trees, gazebos or umbrellas. If there are none at the location already, can you bring your own?)
- Chairs for the elderly (again, if there are no chairs/tables at the location, is it possible to bring some yourself?)
- The amount of people in the area (How early will you have to get there to secure your favourite spot?)
- Open spaces. If kids are attending the event, are there areas for them to run around? Or a playground they can use?
- Council restrictions (are there any that will affect your day?)
What if the Weather Turns?
Knowing exactly what you’d do should the weather turn will ensure that your indoor picnic party will be just as magical as any outdoor gathering would have been.
‘Find a wet weather option as a back up JUST IN CASE; a house or private venue that can be hired is perfect for this’ says Kelly of Little Miss Party Planner.
Once you’ve chosen a backup venue, take a moment to look around. Take note of the layout and any other important details (such as toilet location, parking, etc.). You can then put together a basic plan that includes where you would set up the picnic, and where you would set up any pre-organised games/activities.
This will result in WAY less stress should the weather not be in your favour on the actual day. Rather than panicking, you can spring straight into action!

The 'Seating Situation'
First thing's first: you will need to decide on how you're picnicking. Whether you’re chatting around an established picnic table, sprawled across picnic rugs on the ground, seated at a portable table, or even have a few of these options on offer; just make sure it’s planned. The last thing you need is to arrive at your beautiful location, food and drink at the ready... and no-where to party!

Think about who is attending the celebration. Elderly guests and heavily pregnant women, for example, may find it difficult to get up and down from picnic blankets. In this case, actual seats and a table would be a welcome addition to the day.

How to Make Your Picnic Party 'Pop'!
Once you've decided on the seating situation, it's time to think more about styling. How are you going to create the look you're after? To help inspire you, we've outlined our favourite picnic party décor tips below:
PICNICKING AT AN ESTABLISHED TABLE
Established picnic tables are often wooden, which is absolutely perfect for rustic themed parties. If, however, this doesn't work with your vision, a table cloth is the easiest and most effective way to transform the space.
PICNICKING ON RUGS
Strategically place a few rugs on the ground. Don't be afraid to layer them to achieve both style and comfort. Some themes will call for rugs in similar hues, whilst others will encourage strong colours and patterns.
Once you have the base sorted, it's time to up the comfort factor. Throws and cushions, in a range of shapes, sizes and textures, will make your picnic area incredibly inviting. Cushions are great for sitting on, whilst throws will provide warmth on cooler days. Ottomans are another stylish and comfortable option.
PICNICKING AT PORTABLE TABLES
These can be hired or brought from home. If they're not in the best state, no drama. Cover the table in a reusable table cloth. A simple fix with instant results!
START STYLING
Once you're happy with the base that you've created, it's time to bring in some accessories! Flowers are always our 'go to' décor. You will notice the immediate change in atmosphere when you bring them in. For some wonderful ways to display beautiful blooms at your special occasion, click here.
Another instant atmosphere boost comes from lighting. Both festoon and fairy lights provide just the right glow, as do tealight candles.
Other gorgeous accessories that can be used include table runners, fabric napkins, balloons, tassel and/or fabric garlands, blackboards or other forms of signage, and any items that have a special meaning to your bride-to-be (even the smallest personalised touches can make the biggest difference to her day!

Easy Picnic Party Food
Planning a picnic menu doesn’t have to be stressful.
Simple yet filling finger-foods are a great option, especially if they can be prepared a day or two in advance.
Mini quiches, cheese and crackers, tea sandwiches, sub sandwiches, chips and salsa, fruit kebabs, scones, wraps (served as is or sliced), dips (served with a variety of breads and veggie sticks), strawberries in chocolate, and fresh fruits are just some of our faves.
Grazing platters are also a wonderful and filling option without much, if any, need for cutlery and plates. A variety of cheeses, antipasto, bread and dip, fruit - there are so many delicious platter options that are guaranteed to satisfy a hungry stomach! And despite their impressive looks, they’re quite easy to put together. Everything you need to know about crafting a masterpiece on a board can be found by clicking here.
And finally, mason jars filled with edibles, such as salads or desserts, can be a fun touch (dessert jars just happen to make for a fab party favor, too!).
Handy Tip:
Grazing platters can be ordered from local small businesses, as can finger food, desserts, a charcuterie board or two, and other delish picnic package options. If you find catering for a celebration overwhelming, and you can work it into your budget, getting the professionals to sort out this part of the day can be a huge weight off your shoulders. That, or rope in some friends/family to help with the baking!

Quench That Thirst With Some Drinks
Make sure your guests’ stay hydrated with a range of delicious beverages. ‘Any drinks that are easy to make onsite and can be offered via jugs or a drink dispenser are great’ says Kelly of Little Miss Party Planner, ‘we recommend bubbles or a punch’.
To view some of our favourite punch recipes, click here. If you’d rather serve a jug filled with cocktails, view our favourite recipes here!
NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
When it comes to big celebrations, it’s worth including some high-quality non-alcoholic drinks.
‘Non-alcoholic drinks are a great way to pace yourself, especially if you are at a daytime event [such as a picnic]. Try swapping every other drink for a non-alcoholic one’, suggests Sans Drinks founder, Irene Falcone.
‘Gone are the days when a non-alc wine would essentially be grape juice. Now most non-alc wine is made in the same way as traditional wine – the alcohol has just been removed at the end’, Falcone explains.
For a celebration hen party picnic, Falcone recommends a premium non-alc sparkling wine such as Thomson and Scott Noughty or Wild Life Botanicals Sparkling Blush. ‘I’d also include some ready to drink mocktails such as Naked Life Negroni or Lyre’s Amalfi Spritz’.

Displaying Your Food & Drink
After whipping up a divine assortment of cold bevvies and edible goodies, it's time to think about how these masterpieces will be displayed!
PICNICKING AT A TABLE
Grazing platters or trays of food look stunning when draped down the centre of tables. If you would prefer less clutter, a separate table can be set up purely to display food and bevs (acting like a buffet, or even a cheeky drink station, for your picnicking pals!).
PICNICKING ON A RUG
Trays and platters of food can be simply placed on your rugs, ready for guests to dig in. Alternatively, low-to-the-ground tables (wooden pallets are fab for this) can be set up - ready to display your food, drink and more.
You may also like to get creative. Old trunks make it easy to transport items from home to the location, but they also double as a unique surface for displaying your glorious selection of food and beverages.
And finally, as mentioned above, there is also the option of setting up a 'buffet' table nearby!

Play Some Awesome Picnic Party Games
Alongside your typical hen party and bridal shower games, picnic parties also lend themselves to some alternative (yet oh so memorable) options.
LAWN GAMES
Giant jenga, oversized chess, bocce, croquet - just to name a few. Not only do enormous games lead to huge amounts of fun, but they're also enjoyable for guests of all ages.
Handy Tip:
Lawn games don't have to be larger than life. Your usual jenga and chess can make for just as much fun as their giant counterparts! Simply set up on their own table - ready for guests to play at their leisure.
PING PONG
Who doesn't love a cheeky game of ping pong? If you have a friend or relative who doesn't mind parting with their table for a few hours, it's well worth setting up at your picnic. A great ice-breaker and super fun, this is sure to be an unexpected hit at your hens picnic!
PROSECCO PONG
Ping pong's racy cousin (and Beer pong's better half) will get those competitive juices flowing! To get started, set up a table with 5 reusable cups at each end (like a triangle). Teams then take turns sinking a ping pong ball into their opposing team's cups across the table. Ball in your cup? You drink. First to sink all of the cups claims victory and bragging rights!

Picnic Party Activity Ideas
A picnic party is an activity in itself. Beautiful backdrop, delicious food, refreshing drinks and amazing company - bliss! But if you want to surprise your beautiful bride-to-be with another wonderful experience, why not organise for someone to come to you, in this stunning location, and keep the party going?
Some of our favourite activities to pair with a picnic party include Paint 'n' Sip workshops, flower crown workshops, life drawing classes, wine tasting experiences, or even a leisurely bike ride.
For the bride who loves a bit of competition, hilarious inflatable games (such as bubble soccer) are always a hit, as are adult laser tag parties (there will be so many places to hide from opposing team members in a garden!). You could even put up a volleyball net and enjoy a game ior two in the sunshine.

- Blankets, throw pillows, ottomans and a low table (such as palettes), if you’re planning to picnic on the ground.
- Table cloths (if you wish to use and cover an existing bench or table at the picnic location)
- If the weather is cooler, some additional throws that guests can drape over themselves to keep warm
- Decorations (flowers, vases, table runners, ottomans, etc.)
- Any items needed for planned games and/or activities (including lawn games)
- Something to transport everything from home to the party location (picnic baskets with compartments and straps, insulated totes, and/or bags with padding to cushion breakables)
- Cleaning items (such as paper towel, sponges and garbage bags)

The Jar Game (Quick Overview)
A sweet, fun and memorable game that will result in the BEST kind of keepsake! To play, simply set up an empty jar alongside pens, pencils and pieces of paper. Throughout the celebration, party-goers write down fun moments, funny conversations, cute exchanges, nice comments and so on. Over time, these notes will build up to create a beautiful picture of the event - through the eyes of bride-to-be and guests' alike! And the best part? These notes can be used to re-live the celebration over and over again OR added to a scrapbook along with pictures for the ULTIMATE memento!
Playing 'The Jar' Game
YOU WILL NEED:
An empty jar, some small pieces of paper and pens.
PREPARATION:
On a table, set up your empty jar alongside some paper and pens. Make sure this table is easily accessible so that guests can participate in the game throughout the party. That's it - done and dusted until everyone arrives!

HOW TO PLAY:
Once everyone has arrived at the venue, let them know that there is a special jar sitting on a table. This jar is currently empty, but by the end of the celebration you expect it to be overflowing.
Why?
Because this jar is all about remembering the good times!
Each time a guest experiences something funny, sweet, nice, fun, etc. throughout the day/night, they have the chance to write it down and place it in the jar. Over time, these notes will build up to create a wonderful picture of the celebration - through the eyes of bride-to-be and guests' alike.
Following the event, your bride-to-be can use these notes re-live the BEST times, over and over again!
Hen Party Warning:
Imagine the stories and funny notes as the night goes on... the more drinks downed, the more outrageous they'll become!

Alternative Ways to Play
A GAME WITHIN A GAME
Encourage everyone to leave little notes by turning it into a competition! Hand out short checklists with different types of memories to be recorded. For example, 'a funny moment', 'a sweet moment', 'something that made me happy cry', 'something that surprised me'.
The first to write notes for each of the items on their list gets a cheeky prize. But the overall winner in all of this is the bride, who will have even more to look back on!
TIME IT
Add a clock to the table and ask guests to record the time at the top of the paper when they write their note/s. After the event sort messages into time order, meaning you can re-live moments as they actually happened!

Dress the Bride (Quick Overview)
A truly unique activity that will result in laughter and epic photo ops! Start by assigning each guest one clothing item or accessory before the celebration. It is their job to purchase (or find) this item and bring it to the event (without the bride knowing). On the big day, announce that the group have a little surprise - at which point guests proceed to 'dress' the bride with each of their items; all of which combine to create one incredible outfit! Want to mix things up a little? You may like to add some 'purchase' rules (e.g. clothing and accessories must be found at an op shop or around the home), or set a theme that items are picked around (glam, raunchy, bridal or even pirates works well for this!).

How to 'Dress the Bride'
PREPARATION:
This activity can be for the bridesmaids alone, or you can get the entire guest list involved. Whichever option you choose, first thing's first: you need to assign one item per person.
Example items include:
|
|
|
If there is a large guest list/group of bridesmaids, you could break into small teams - working together to find some glorious outfit gold!
DRESSING THE BRIDE:
To make sure this outfit comes together perfectly, organisation is key. Set up an announcement (for party-goers eyes ONLY - this is to be kept hush, hush from the bride), and let them know the plan:
Step 1: In the lead up to the event, everyone participating is assigned an item
Step 2: Each person (or team) purchases their item
Step 3: Each person works their magic and gets those items to the celebration without the bride-to-be seeing
Step 4: Head bridesmaid announces that you've got a little surprise. Guests' then proceed to 'dress' the bride with each item, one at a time!
Step 5: Many happy snaps are taken and many laughs are had
Step 2: Each person (or team) purchases their item

Alternative Ways to Play
ADD SOME RULES
Rather than lettings guests purchase what they please, set some rules. For example, items must be purchased from an op shop, items must be found around the home, items must be in a particular theme, or items must be in a particular colour.
THEME IT
As mentioned above, you may like to set a theme rule for your accessories. Some examples include:
- A pirate theme: where an eye patch, pirate hat, bandana, and even a mini pirate flag may make an appearance - turning your bride-to-be into the ultimate scallywag!
- A glam theme: providing your girl with some of the finer things in life
- A colour theme: by requesting that each participant purchase an item in a particular shade (pink, for example) or shades (such as pastel colours), your hen will be a colour co-ordinated vision!
- A raunchy theme: I think you know where I'm going with this. If there's an accessory in an inappropriate shape, it's obviously a must for this celebration!
- A bridal theme: from a beautiful veil to glorious glasses, your girl will shine in hand-picked bride-to-be gear!
As you can see, the options are quite endless when it comes to theming your accessories!
Handy Hint:
Surprising the bride-to-be with a fancy dress hen do? Ask her to turn up in a white dress (so that she feels comfortable - which is a must on her special day); then bring the theme to her outfit with an assortment of accessories (picked especially for her by each guest!).

Kitchen Tea Activities (Quick Overview)
There's nothing better than creating, learning or enjoying something new alongside your loved ones. So why not include a fun activity or two at your kitchen tea event and do just that?

Beautiful Bouquets
Provide a selection of flowers (both fresh and dried) alongside craft supplies such as scissors, ribbons, twine and kraft paper. Party guests can then sit at the kitchen table (or any other designated area at your venue) and create their very own 'Wedding Bouquets'.
This is a fun activity that also results in beautiful take-home favours.
Handy Tip:
Have your guests create one bouquet as a group out of dried blooms. This can then be gifted to your bride-to-be as an everlasting memento from her special day!

MAKE IT PERSONAL
Does your hen treasure particular florals over others? Add a personal touch to this activity by setting out bunches of her favourite flowers.

Caricature Artist
If you're after a truly unique activity, a caricature artist could be the way to go! Enjoyable and unexpected; guests will have the opportunity to watch cartoon versions of their friends (and themselves) come to life before their very eyes.
These take-home sketches will become a treasured keepsake for all.

THE GIFT OF DRAWING
Rather than using this as an activity, hire a caricaturist to sketch a picture of the happy couple. Display this beauty at the kitchen tea, and then gift to your hen at the end of the party.

DIY Crafts
This one is a great idea for the creative souls!
Find a craft that your hen would love to learn more about and make it an optional addition to the Kitchen Tea experience! It will provide a bit of extra fun, and give those who do partake a special memento from the day. Win/win!
Some DIY ideas include the following (simply purchase kits or provide the necessary items to complete the project):

DIY Photo Booth
Find a plain wall or a beautiful spot in the garden - you're about to get snap happy!
To create a DIY Photo Booth all you need is a nice backdrop and a basket filled with fun accessories. Example props include sunglasses, hats, feather boas, necklaces, blackboards and chalk, or even quotes (printed off and framed - minus the glass insert).
Don't have a stash of accessories at home? We recommend asking friends and family, or checking out your local op shop for goodies!

Edible Gardens
Herbs are a staple in most kitchens around the world. So why not give your party the gift of fresh herbs in their kitchen (i.e. the gift that keeps on giving)?!
To pull this off, you will need to provide seedlings, starter plants, pots, soil, gloves and small shovels. Guests can then get their hands dirty whilst creating their very own edible gardens - the perfect addition to any sunny window sill!

Family Recipes
The focus of a kitchen tea is often gifts, recipes and knowledge. Why not combine the three into one fun activity?!
Chat to the mother of the bride (and groom) to see if there is a special or favourite recipe that has been passed down through the family. You can then all join forces on the day and learn exactly how to bring these delicious dishes to life.
Working as a group, wine in hand, this activity will not only prove to be a special bonding experience, but will also result in amazing food and conversation (I mean, whatever you create needs to be tasted afterwards - so keep the party going at the dining table as you devour your goods fresh from the oven!)

Giant Lawn Games
The best kitchen tea games are larger than life!
If you're planning on hosting outside (or even indoor/outdoor), giant lawn games are always a great way to get the party started (and to keep it going!).
Giant Jenga, a huge game of Noughts & Crosses, or even extra large Connect Four - there are so many fun options when it comes to oversized lawn games and special occasions.
Handy Tip:
Save some cash by borrowing or hiring the games rather than purchasing yourself.

Live Music
For the bride-to-be who loves the sound of music. Whether you go for an acoustic vibe or a complete band, local musicians will be more than happy to entertain!
Combined with good food, good wine and good company, this really is a recipe for success.

Personal Chef
If your best friend is a foodie, she will appreciate this option.
Rather than heading to a restaurant for lunch or dinner, bring the delicious food to you!
A personal chef will not only provide your party with an incredible feast, but will also be able to share some tricks of the trade as they create each dish (perfect for a Kitchen Tea where this type of information is shared by friends and family members as well).
Enjoy the perks of eating out whilst in the comfort of your own home - and best of all... there's no clean up!

Scrapbooking
The ideal activity for the sentimental bride! Set up a scrapbooking station overflowing with scrapbook paper, scissors, adhesive, stamps and ink pads, embellishments (such as stickers), small cards or tags, washi tape and page backgrounds. Finish it all off by adding a couple of polaroid cameras.
Throughout the celebration, give party-goers the opportunity to create a page or two especially for the guest of honour. Individual pages can feature thoughtful messages, well-wishes, favourite moments from the celebration, and polaroid pictures of themselves with other guests, the bride, and perhaps even some happy snaps of the setup itself.
At the end of the event, bind the pages together and gift to the beautiful bride-to-be.
Handy Hint:
If your celebration has a theme, stick to it by gathering theme-specific scrapbooking items. This could be neutral colours and natural textures for a rustic event, or seashells for a beachside bash.

Surprise Picnic
Just because it's a kitchen tea doesn't mean the entire party has to be based around the kitchen!
Surprise your beautiful bride-to-be with a cheeky picnic meal in the garden or at your local park. From boho to tropical, there are so many ways to create a stunning and cohesive theme (that will WOW your guest list!). And when combined with appetizers/grazing platters, drinks, a popular game or two, plus some small prizes; guests and bride alike are bound to have a wonderful time.

Tea Party
High tea is a common occurrence at kitchen tea parties. So why not use this to your advantage and create an activity around it?
Scones, finger foods and small treats can adorn tiered stands, alongside butter, cream and homemade jams. Gorgeous tea sets can be placed at each seat, with a selection of tea bags, sugar cubes and milk ready for the tasting.
Pair with some games (and perhaps a little wine or champagne!) for a memorable day.

ADD SOME PIZZAZZ
This is a great opportunity to theme your event. A mad hatter tea party, for example, will add some colour, fun and a touch of crazy to your day. Whereas a vintage kitchen tea party will ooze old world charm. On the flip side, you may like to combine your tea party with a picnic (where themes such as boho flourish).

Tea Tasting Experience
Does the bride-to-be love a good cuppa? Why not spend some time indulging in a variety of gourmet teas and tea-infused treats? Fresh, unique and traditional options can be enjoyed alongside goodies that pair well with a hot beverage or two (such as cookies, biscuits or even heart shaped sugar!).
Handy Tip:
This activity can double as a fabulous favor. Set up a 'tea tasting station' whereby guests can test and take home their favourite blends.

Treat Transformation
Cupcakes, biscuits, mini cakes - any delicious treat that can be decorated with icing and other goodies is absolutely perfect for this activity.
Set out bowls of sprinkles, shaved chocolate, strawberries, blueberries, etc. and let your guests go crazy transforming their basic treats into something heavenly. You could even take it one step further by requesting that all décor is 'wedding themed'.
Your bride-to-be can then select her favourite decorated treat once everyone is done and award the winning team or guest with a sweet prize!
