AUTHOR: BEC OF 'FOR EVERY HEN' Looking at photos from an incredible experience always brings back fond memories, and your pre-wedding celebration will be no different! But, what if I told you there was a way to capture some of the funniest moments of the party? A simple game you could play that’s not only cheap, fun and sure to bring the laughs, but also a sure-fire way to get photographs that will bring a smile to your face years down the track? Let me introduce you to one of the more memorable hens party, bridal shower and kitchen tea games... ‘Capture This!’. See below for instructions. HOW TO PLAY 'CAPTURE THIS'YOU WILL NEED: Your guests and some cameras (phones with a decent camera will work perfectly fine). GAME INSTRUCTIONS: Before the party, write down a list of categories that suit your bride and groom. Some examples include ‘The First Time I Saw You’, ‘Our First Date’, ‘Our First Fight’, ‘Will You Marry Me?’ and ‘We’re Pregnant!’. It is entirely up to you how risqué these categories are; however if you do decide to go for a cheekier selection, make sure there’s no-one on the guest list who will be offended. On the big day, break guests into small teams containing around 4 people each. These teams are then assigned one of the categories from your list (whether you give ALL teams the same category or each team a different category is up to you and how many options you’ve been able to come up with). When you say ‘GO!’, teams have 2 minutes to create a photo or selfie that relates to the category they were given. In other words, if their category is ‘Will You Marry Me?’, they must take a photo of one person proposing to another, whilst the others clap around them (for example). When the time is up, teams get another 30 seconds to choose their favourite photo, which will then be presented to your bride-to-be. When all photos have been presented, your bride-to-be chooses a winning team and presents them with their prize (this could be anything from a hug or glass of champagne, to an actual prize such as organic pamper products or chocolates, etc.)! Loved the game and want more? Hen party games such as this can be played numerous times! Simply assign each group a new category and go from there. Handy hint: you can change up groups each round for more fun! ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO PLAYCAPTURE MORE MOMENTS Rather than taking photographs, have each team create short films! Make a rule that clips can be no longer than 5-10 seconds, meaning they must squeeze as much into these little bursts as possible. As above, have teams present their best work to your bride-to-be for judging. HASHTAG IT Create a hashtag specifically for this game (or for the entire hen night, kitchen tea or bridal shower) so that your bride-to-be can easily find ALL of the hilarious pics from her special day! THEME IT If you want to shake things up a bit (or guests are getting too good at staging photos and you want to add some more difficulty to the game), consider making themes for each round as well! For example, the first round teams must take a photo relating to their category that is ‘FUNNY’, the second round they must take a photo relating to their category that is ‘SILLY’, the third round they must take a photo relating to their category that is ‘ANGRY’, etc. Using the above category example of ‘Will You Marry Me?’ with an ANGRY theme, they must take a photo of one person proposing to another whilst others angrily look on. Other themes to consider include ‘Sad’, ‘Overacting’, ‘Crazy’, 'Creative', ‘Confused’ and ‘Amazed’. Get some props involved for added effect! PROPS For some added fun, why not provide each team with a selection of props? Check out local op shops for some wonderful options (hats, ties, sunglasses, etc.) - they will take your photos to the next level! ARTICLES RELATED TO CAPTURE THIS:
