AUTHOR: NICOLE OF 'LASER TAG IN A BOX' Here’s a fab idea for your hen’s party. It is high-tech hide and seek where party-goers can experience the fun of a live video game. It is a way for your guests to star in their own real-life action blockbuster. What am I talking about? Laser tag! If your crew love Wonder Woman and Lara Croft, or they simply love to watch re-runs of M*A*S*H, then this is the party for you. It’s a way to enjoy the thrill of an army-themed hens party... without the risk of bruises; and it’s perfect for day or night, indoors or outdoors. Better yet, by hiring equipment from businesses such as Laser Tag in a Box, the battles can be right in your own backyard! BATTLE ROYAL IN YOUR BACKYARD
Popular laser tag game options include Capture the Flag and Team Death Match. Both games are intuitive, but the number and type of missions you play is limited only by your imagination.
TEAM DEATH MATCH Let’s start with Team Death Match; it’s a simple eliminate the enemy type game that is perfect for getting the party started. To play, divide the group into roughly equal team sizes. Teams start at opposite ends of the battlefield (a.k.a. your backyard), with unlimited re-spawns from their base and 5 hit points per person (in other words, hits a player can take before they must go back and get a respawn from their team’s medic box). The computer inside each team’s medic box will count the number of respawns, with the winning team being the one who has the least respawns at the end of the game. This mission is a great ice-breaker because every gamer plays the whole mission and it’s very forgiving of mistakes. ELECTRONIC CAPTURE THE FLAG Next we have Electronic Capture the Flag, which is a new twist on an old favourite! To play, guests must once again divide into two teams (the ‘red team’ and the ‘blue team’), with the aim of the game being to tag the opposition’s flag box. To get started, each team receives one medic box (with unlimited respawns from their home base, which is wherever the team’s medic box is placed), and one friendly flag box (which is positioned on their side of the battlefield, a short distance from their medic box). The goal is to shoot the opposition’s flag box and get back to your team’s flag box and shoot it. Once someone shoots a flag box, that player gets a special sound and light effect. So guess what? They become a target! If the player doesn’t make it back to their base, she doesn’t earn a point for her team. It’s loads of fun and the team with the most points at the end of the game wins! TAKE YOUR LASER TAG HEN PARTY TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Why not level-up the fun and theme your event with fancy dress and themed food?
You can get decked out with a G.I. Jane costume and some camo paint, or you could don aviator glasses and Andrew Sister’s style uniforms complete with fight caps! It’s also fun to dress up the backyard with rented camo nets and anything else that will get your guests excited for a day or night of action. After the combat games, you can then kick back and enjoy some themed food such as an Asian Buffet and vodka martinis. So ladies, lock ‘n’ load and book your hen’s party today!
