AUTHOR: NICOLE OF 'NICOLE BARRALET PHOTOGRAPHY'
Today I wanted to introduce you to a different kind of hens party idea - The Boudoir Hens Party.

Now what is a Boudoir Hens Party you might ask? Well it’s probably not what you think..

Let’s start with describing what boudoir photography is.

BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY

Boudoir photography is a celebration of the female form.

It’s a photo shoot that helps you step out of your comfort zone, embrace your body, embrace self love and capture beautiful portraits that celebrate your unique beauty.

A boudoir photo shoot is so much more than just a photo shoot. It’s an experience. It’s a feeling. It’s owning a collection of photographs that remind you of the empowering feeling that comes with stepping outside your comfort zone!

There are many different types of boudoir photography.

It ranges from the sexual to the sensual; and depending on what you are looking for there is a variety of different photographers out there.

To me, the most empowering boudoir is soft, subtle, feminine and leaves something to the imagination. It’s not overly sexual, but more sensual. It is all about capturing the most beautiful photographs of you - your unique beauty; and by stripping down into lingerie in front of a relative stranger you face your body fears and step into empowerment and ownership of your body.
Feel empowered with boudoir photography sessions!

SO HOW DOES THIS WORK IN TERMS OF A BOUDOIR HENS PARTY?

A boudoir hens party is a small group of besties who want to feel pampered (with hair and makeup) and who are comfortable being in lingerie around one another.

We start with hair and makeup, music, nibblies and going through the wardrobe options. Once hair and makeup is finished, we capture some gorgeous glam group portrait photos (think vanity fair style) before we head into some more intimate individual portraits.

Each girl is photographed individually to bring out her inner goddess and capture some beautiful sensual photos. For the bride to be, we focus a little more on her (after all it is her hens!) and capture a few different looks so she has a beautiful gift for her husband to be.

After we wrap the photo-shoot with all the ladies looking super glam in their hair and makeup, most hens head out for dinner and a night on the town!

WHERE DO BOUDOIR HENS PARTIES TAKE PLACE?

Really this depends on the photographer. Personally I have only photographed boudoir hens parties in the studio, but they could also take place in a hotel room if you are hiring one for the weekend. Just ask your photographer!

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A BOUDOIR HENS PARTY?

Again this depends on the photographer you choose, but most hens parties include professional hair and makeup, the boudoir shoot time and one group print each. From there you usually have the option to purchase additional prints and products after you have seen the photographs.

All of the girls bring their own clothes, lingerie and accessories to the shoot, that way it feels more like you.

HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU NEED FOR A HENS PARTY?

A minimum of two - the hen and her bestie, and a maximum of four besties. They are really designed for a smaller hens group. Again this may vary depending on the photographer you choose.
A memorable occasion spent with your besties!
A PARTY LIKE NO OTHER
So there you have it, a hens party with a difference!

Perfect for a small group of besties who want to encourage and empower one another, create a great gift for the hen and capture their beauty. Plus it’s a whole heap of fun! Why not start your hens party weekend with a photo shoot filled with empowerment!
A unique experience that you will remember forever!

Hi Alisa!

The author of this article is Nicole Barralet Photography (based in QLD). If you're located elsewhere, it's definitely worthwhile asking local photographers if they offer this type of shoot (or doing a quick Google search to see who offers Boudoir photography nearby). They will be able to answer any questions you have re this activity (including cost, location, etc.).

Hope this helps!

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to get in touch via email (bec@foreveryhen.com.au) or comments below :)
