BRIDAL DRAWING GAME (QUICK OVERVIEW)

A fun activity that puts sketching skills to the test! To play, team-members take turns to masterfully put written words into pictures. This is done by one person pulling a word/phrase from a hat and then drawing it for their group to see. If their team can guess what the picture is, they get a point. Teams continue taking it in turns to demonstrate their drawing abilities until there is an overall winner. Want to mix things up a little? Rather than recycling the images after each round, display them proudly for all to see in your very own 'art gallery'! And for those struggling to guess a word from pictures? Why not give artists' the chance to 'act it out' (like charades) for an extra clue?!

​How to Play the Bridal Shower Drawing Game

YOU WILL NEED:
Bridal drawing game cards (see free printable below), something you can put the cards in (such as a hat or bowl), drawing paper, somewhere to display the paper (i.e. bluetak to the wall, place on a frame) and pens/textas.

Handy Hint:
​​If you have a blackboard and chalk or a whiteboard and markers, these could be used in place of paper/pens/pencils.

PREPARATION:
Cut paper into small rectangles and, on each piece, write a word related to bridal showers, weddings and/or couples. We recommend coming up with at least 15 different options. Some example wedding/couple related phrases include groom, proposal, bouquet, first dance and bridal shower.​

​Once you have your bridal shower word clues sorted, fold them up and place them into a hat or bowl. Place this hat/bowl next to some textas, pens and a stack of paper.

Ensure that the paper that's being used for drawing is displayed so that everyone at the party can see it (e.g. attached to an easel, blutacked to the wall, etc.)

Now the fun really begins... it's game time!

PLAYING THE BRIDAL DRAWING GAME:
To play, follow the steps below.

1. Split guests into two teams
2. Flip a coin to see which team draws first
3. The team who wins the coin flip pick a 'drawer'
4. The drawer makes their way to the front and grabs a word from the bowl
5. The drawer then quickly sketches the chosen word/phrase. However, she cannot, no matter HOW hard it may be, talk while her masterpiece takes form!
6. Whilst she's sketching away, the rest of her team try to guess what the word/phrase is. But this is where it gets hard... the drawing and guessing must happen within one minute.
7. Once the buzzer goes, that round is done and dusted. If the team guessed the picture correctly before the timer went off, they get one point. If they didn't, no points are assigned and it's the next team's turn to take the plate!
8. Teams continue taking it in turns to demonstrate their drawing abilities until you either run out of cards or call it a day. 
9. The team with the most points at the end of the bridal shower drawing game are crowned the winners!​

Alternative Ways to Play:

BEST PICTURE​
Rather than tossing each picture straight into the recycling bin, why not display your masterpieces like the beautiful art they are?! Attach them with little pegs to string and hang across a wall/between trees.

Guests and bride-to-be can then vote for their favourite/funniest/worst drawing overall (anonymously, of course!). The person who wins their category receives a prize!

ACT IT OUT
Take this game up a notch! If teams fail to guess the word/phrase being drawn within the time limit, half of that team (i.e. Team A) must make their way to the front and act it out as a group (like charades)! If their remaining team members can guess what is being acted out in front of them, within 30 seconds, they still get one point for the round!

​Whilst this is all happening, Team B can simply take a seat and enjoy the show... until the buzzer goes and it's potentially their turn to perform!
