NATURAL CONFETTI IDEAS (QUICK OVERVIEW)

Unique and visually appealing, eco confetti is a great way to add an organic touch to celebrations. Natural materials such as leaves, dried flowers, seeds and lavender buds create a fun and festive atmosphere, as does rice paper and seeded paper confetti. These beautiful alternatives are great for wedding tosses, as table runners, or even pathways. They can also be used to build excitement for an event (simply add a small amount to envelopes when posting invitations for a fun surprise that guests won't expect).

The Different Confetti Options

LEAF CONFETTI SHAPES
Make your own confetti with leaves! All you need is a hole punch and a collection of fallen leaves from your local area.

To make, punch holes into each leaf, catching the cut pieces in a container. Once you have enough, package them up; ready to hand out on your big day.

Handy Tip:
Use a shaped punch for extra fun. Hearts, stars, and multi-sized circles are just some of the options available.

AUTUMN/FALL LEAF CONFETTI
Gather small, colourful leaves from trees and the ground just before your event. They will add a vibrant touch to your special day!

Handy Tip:
If you collect the leaves a few weeks (or months) before your celebration, press and dry them. This will preserve their beautiful hues.

DRIED FLOWER CONFETTI
Not only beautiful and fragrant, but also the perfect pop of colour; basketfuls of petal confetti are sure to grab attention.

To create your own, you will first need to dry natural petals (or whole flowers). This takes time, but the results speak for themselves. Click here to learn how to do this at home.

Once dry, place your confetti into a sealed container or glass jar. The day of your event, sort into confetti holders, and hand out to guests.

Handy tip:
Don't have time for the drying process? Pre-made flower confetti can be purchased from Etsy and other boutique stores.

SEEDS
Definitely unexpected! From bird seed to wildflower seeds, the choice is yours when it comes to this unique confetti option.

Going for flower seeds? Be sure to pick natives; you don't want to add any invasive species to your surrounds. Opting for bird seed? Do your research to ensure it's a good fit for the local wildlife.

Handy Tip:
Unlike the other ideas in this article, some seeds can be quite hard. Avoid unwanted injuries by using this particular confetti for invitations (see section below for more information). Alternatively, throw at your own risk. Just avoid the face! #nobodywantseedintheireye

LAVENDER BUDS
Unique and beautiful in it's own right, lavender is a popular alternative to flower petals and leaves. A great choice for anyone after some extra colour at their event; this fragrant, bright and 100% biodegradable confetti will stand out from the crowd.

Alternatives:
Alongside lavender, dried herbs such as mint or rosemary are another natural and aromatic confetti option.

RICE PAPER CONFETTI
Enjoy your confetti moment with soluble bits of rice paper. With it's fluttery fall, these beauties look wonderful in photos. And better yet? A little rain and your confetti will dissolve within a few hours; making it a great eco-friendly option.

SEEDED PAPER CONFETTI
Recycled paper embedded with flower seeds make for a fun and unique confetti option.

After working it's magic on the day, put handfuls into small bags and gift to guests on their way out. They can then plant the confetti and watch as it turns into beautiful blooms!

Handy Hint:
Purchase seeded paper and, using a hole punch (or shaped punch), create confetti pieces.
