A wine tour is a great way to celebrate a hens party. As opposed to going out for dinner or lunch, it really gets people mingling. And the fact that you get to visit a great selection of wineries in lots of different locations keeps things interesting. Plus if you are looking to get crazy, but aren’t that keen on doing so in front of Grandma, it is an excellent way to have a nice day with the older ladies of the family, get a little bit tipsy, and then head out later where the less tame fun can begin!

1. Make the Bride Feel Special
Let her know she doesn’t need to worry about anything.
It’s the little things that add up to make it an incredible day. Carry her glass of wine and belongings for her, play her favourite songs, don’t let her buy a drink at all. Let the different wineries know that it is her special day so they can make a big deal out of her.

2. Get the Different Groups Together
With many different circles of friends and family attending, it’s great to get them mingling early; and a wine tour is perfect for this. For example, go out of your way to introduce the groom’s family to the bride’s friends, play some ice-breaker games (some ideas later in the article), and take every opportunity to talk to people you don’t know.
3. Pick the Right Spots for Your Wine Tour
While a little bit of information on the wines is always welcome, you don’t want to be lectured on every single vintage and wine-making technique. The best stops are in pretty locations that have a fun and relaxed atmosphere; with plenty of chances to mingle and socialise.
Laughs are the key to a great day, so some fun wineries always go down well.

4. Make Her a Personalised Playlist
Make a playlist of great songs that will bring back memories and get the party started. Having a rocking bus on the way home is one of the most fun parts of the hens day!
5. Pick Some Fun Games (But Don't Overdo It)
All wine regions are 1 hour plus from Melbourne CBD, so there is time to play a game or two on the way down.
From experience, 1 or 2 games is generally enough as the wine tour is an event in itself; plus people get a bit annoyed if you keep interrupting their wine and conversation.
Some of our favourite bus games include (you can Google them for full rules and explanation):
MEMORY LANE
Everyone writes down a memory they have with the bride-to-be. One of the bridesmaids then reads out each memory and the bride must guess who wrote them.
DID YOU KNOW?
Get the groom to pre-answer a series of questions. The bride-to-be must answer the same questions to see how they match. Example, ‘Where was your first kiss?’
PASS THE PARCEL
Not just for kids anymore! Played on the bus, add naughty or useful gifts under each layer; music is played and when the music stops, a layer is unwrapped and a prize revealed.

PEG GAME
Good fun, and very social. Versions include ‘forbidden words’ or ‘stripper names’. This can be set-up on the bus on the way down, but lasts the whole day. It’s a good way to get people laughing and socialising.

1: A Little Bit of Luxury
Instead of being one group in a crowded restaurant, you and your friends are the most important guests on our list. A private chef is there to serve you and you will have their undivided attention from start to finish.
2. Privacy
Everything happens in the comfort of your own venue; meaning you have maximum privacy. Therefore, unlike restaurant venues, you don’t have to worry what the next table is going to think about your crazy laugh, your friends’ jokes or your fun games!
3. A Night to Remember
You want the hen to have a special night as the day of her wedding approaches. Help her feel as special as she is by giving her a memorable night she will always remember!
4. Saves You Money
A Personal Chef comes to you; which means there’s no need for a cab, no corking fees and no babysitter... that’s a no brainer.

5. Restaurant Quality Food

All menus are customised to your preferences and dietary requirements. Your personal, gourmet Chef will make sure that everyone in the group has a delicious meal, no matter what their dietary needs are. Preparing a delicious meal is half the fun!

7. Saves You Time
No travel time, no waiting for a table, and when dinner is done you can go right back to enjoying the company of your guests and getting started with your next activity!
8. Menu Style to Suit Your Venue & Plans
Whether a sit down meal suits the event, a mouth-watering degustation or a more casual canapé style menu will suit best with the other activities planner; your Personal Chef will have all bases covered (including optional wait staff and event styling).
9. Learn Tricks & Tips of the Trade
These experiences can be interactive; enjoy getting a glimpse of your Chef at home in action as the food is being prepared and plated right in your kitchen.
10. No Clean Up
Last, but not least, you don’t have to do any cleaning up! This may be the best reason. Your Personal Chef keeps the kitchen tidy as the courses go out; and in the end when all of the dishes are done, the kitchen is left cleaner than when your Chef arrived.

What is an At-Home Wine Tasting?
A wine tasting covers activities and drinks all in one. It's an opportunity to not only try different types of wine, but to also learn more about each drop (the different regions, flavours, aromas). It shouldn't be pretentious and stuffy (that wouldn't be very hensy now, would it?!), and it should match the tastes of the hen and her friends.
Combined with delicious food pairings, it's a wonderful way to enjoy a variety of wines with your favourite people.

EXAMPLE TASTING THEME IDEAS:
- Champagne and sparkling wine tasting
- A tour of Rosé from home and away
- A sweet and stylish tasting for the bride that is sweet as
- Just,wine!
What You Need to Host an In-Person Wine Tasting
A BOTTLE OF EACH WINE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TRY
This could be a random selection of new wines, or wines based on a common theme (e.g. white wines, red wines, bottles from a particular wine region, lighter wines, and so on). Make this decision based on your guest of honour's tastes.
DRINK-WARE
Enough wine glasses for everyone attending the event.
FOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
We suggest either printing off and framing a large food and wine pairings poster, or printing off smaller copies for guests to view at their leisure.
FOOD
A delicious spread of food (to match your pairing suggestions). This may include cheese, crackers, fruits and cold meats.
TASTING NOTES
These could just be written on a plain piece of paper, or an actual tasting form that can be used to highlight the pros and cons of each bottle.
Different Ways to Host a Home Tasting
CELLAR PARTY
For a bridal shower with a difference, a cellar party where guests' each bring a bottle of wine to kick start the newly married couple's collection could be a winner. Pair this with a wine tasting experience and you could have the perfect event!
BLIND WINE TASTING PARTY
For the group who want to really test their senses, why not host a blind tasting? A great way to find your perfect match in a beverage, as there are no pre-conceived opinions of the wine before it's actually experienced. No labels, no back story, nothing! It's simply you and your taste buds, my friend.
MAKE IT A GAME
Set out a variety of different wines, labels covered. In front of each bottle, place a small card that gives an overview of the taste (and perhaps some other hints, if needed).
Now for the 'tasting with a twist'. Each guest is given a chance to guess what the hidden wine selections are. They can read the brief descriptions, try it, and make notes. They just can't look at the label. Once everyone has written down their thoughts, reveal the bottles! Those with the most correct guesses are awarded a prize. But the real prize here? Getting to finish the delicious wines as a group.
Handy Tip:
If you think this game will be too hard for your group, you can provide the names of each wine and they simply have to match them to the bottles (rather than guessing everything themselves).
BRING IN A PROFESSIONAL
Wine educators have a knack for creating a fun and educational experience. A good wine presenter should also be able to match the tasting to meet your hen's wine preferences, whilst being entertaining for all of her guests.
