You've been nominated as the matron of honour and it's your responsibility to organise the Hen's Day. Now comes the hardest part... where to from here? You start searching for Hen Party ideas or activities to get the group out. With so much to choose from, it can be a daunting task. But then you come across an option where a lot of the planning is done for you: private wine tours in beautiful locations such as the Yarra Valley!
WHY A PRIVATE WINE TOUR?
When you think of a hen party, it's all about having fun, creating new memories, sharing new experiences and, as a bonus, it involves wine - right?
With a private winery tour, you can expect all of this and more!
Hosted and coordinated from start to finish, all the leg work will be done for you. Meaning, as an organiser, there is very little for you to do. Just confirm your numbers and let your tour operator know what you'd like included to suit the group budget.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON PRIVATE WINE TOURS
The door-to-door service will take you winery hopping where you can enjoy scenic views and wine tastings at popular and boutique wineries.
You get your own driver and exclusive access to the tour vehicle; no sharing with other groups. The hosted packages are there to facilitate the day for you and are always available to take group photos if you wish.
There will be so much to sample and so many ways to add colour to your day! In the Yarra Valley, for example, cheese, chocolate, scrumptious foods, make your own flower crown classes, sweeping views and many photo opportunities are all available.
And with everything behind the scenes taken care of for you (such as coordinating venue bookings, calculating travel time between venues, and planning the itinerary to your criteria), all you have to do is be ready for the fun at pick up time!
FRIENDS WITH DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?
Not a problem! Private winery tours can assist in organising the finer details to make sure everyone is catered for and does not miss out on the fun. Just let your host know before the event if anyone in the group is vegan, vegetarian, pregnant or has food intolerances.
Our goal is to accommodate everyone, and we find that passing on all relevant information to the wineries is important for a smooth day out.
LOOKING FOR A WOW FACTOR?
How about having your Hen's event captured from the sky? That's right, drone video and photography! Long after the day is over, re-live the highlights with a takeaway video clip which is offered by Nep, a licenced drone operator at 'Kangaroo Hopping Tours'!
MAKE IT MEMORABLE
The hen's day is the second notable event before the wedding day. It's a day where you let your hair down, get to know the closest people of the bride, share secrets, laugh from the belly and have fun!
Make it memorable with offerings from the Yarra Valley (or, if you're in another state, the closest wine region) and the people that are there to facilitate it all. No matter what the group budget is, you are guaranteed to have a great time!

A wine tour is a great way to celebrate a hens party; as opposed to going out for dinner or lunch, it really gets people mingling. And the fact that you get to visit lots of different locations keeps things a lot more interesting. Plus if you are looking to get crazy, but aren’t that keen on doing so in front of Grandma, it is an excellent way to have a nice day with the older ladies of the family, get a little bit tipsy, and then head out later where the less tame fun can begin.
If you are looking at planning a hens party wine tour, below are our top tips for a great day out.
TIP 1: MAKE THE BRIDE FEEL SPECIAL
Let her know she doesn’t need to worry about anything.
It’s the little things that add up to make it a great day. Carry her wine and belongings for her, play her favourite songs, don’t let her buy a drink at all. Let the wineries know that it is her special day so they can make a big deal out of her.
TIP 2: GET THE DIFFERENT GROUPS TOGETHER
With many different circles of friends and family attending, it’s great to get them mingling early; and a wine tour is perfect for this. For example, go out of your way to introduce the groom’s family to the bride’s friends, play some ice-breaker games (some ideas later in the article), and take every opportunity to talk to people you don’t know.
TIP 3: PICK THE RIGHT SPOTS FOR YOUR WINE TOUR
While a little bit of information on the wines is always welcome, you don’t want to be lectured on every single vintage and wine-making technique. The best stops are in pretty locations that are relaxed and fun, with plenty of chances to mingle and socialise.
Laughs are the key to a good day, so some fun wineries always go down well.
TIP 4: MAKE HER A PERSONALISED PLAYLIST
Make a playlist of great songs that will bring back memories and get the party started. Having a rocking bus on the way home is one of the most fun parts of the day!
TIP 5: PICK SOME FUN GAMES (BUT DON’T OVERDO IT)
All wine regions are 1 hour plus from Melbourne CBD, so there is time to play a game or two on the way down.
From experience, 1 or 2 games is generally enough as the wine tour is an event in itself; plus people get a bit annoyed if you keep interrupting their wine and conversation.
Some of our favourite bus games include (you can Google them for full rules and explanation):
Everyone writes down a memory they have with the bride-to-be. One of the bridesmaids then reads out each memory and the bride must guess who wrote them.
DID YOU KNOW?
Get the groom to pre-answer a series of questions. The bride-to-be must answer the same questions to see how they match. Example, ‘Where was your first kiss?’
PASS THE PARCEL
Not just for kids anymore! Played on the bus, add naughty or useful gifts under each layer; music is played and when the music stops, a layer is unwrapped and a prize revealed.
Great fun, and very social. Versions include ‘forbidden words’ or ‘stripper names’. This can be set-up on the bus on the way down, but lasts the whole day. It’s a good way to get people laughing and socialising.
There you have it, our top tips for a great wine tour hens party!

The one thing you want when you plan a Hen’s Party is for it to be memorable and for everyone to have a good time. Whether you decide to have an amazing night in or a BIG night out, a unique way to kick the party off is with a beautiful meal prepared by your own Personal Chef!
Here are our top 10 reasons you will LOVE having a personal chef at your hens party!
REASON 1: A LITTLE BIT OF LUXURY
Instead of being one group in a crowded restaurant, you and your friends are the most important guests on our list. A private chef is there to serve you and you will have their undivided attention from start to finish.
REASON 2: PRIVACY
Everything happens in the comfort of your own venue; meaning you have maximum privacy. Therefore, unlike restaurant venues, you don’t have to worry what the next table is going to think about your crazy laugh, your friends’ jokes or your fun games!
REASON 3: A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
You want the hen to have a special night as the day of her wedding approaches. Help her feel as special as she is by giving her a memorable night she will always remember!
REASON 4: SAVES YOU MONEY
A Personal Chef comes to you; which means there’s no need for a cab, no corking fees and no babysitter... that’s a no brainer.
REASON 5: RESTAURANT QUALITY FOOD
How does amazing restaurant quality food made with the freshest, local ingredients sound? Every food item is hand-picked by your private Chef, lovingly prepared for your party and plated for your table to impress!
REASON 6: PERSONALISED MENU
All menus are customised to your preferences and dietary requirements. Your personal, gourmet Chef will make sure that everyone in the group has a delicious meal, no matter what their dietary needs are. Preparing a delicious meal is half the fun!
REASON 7: SAVES YOU TIME
No travel time, no waiting for a table, and when dinner is done you can go right back to enjoying the company of your guests and getting started with your next activity!
REASON 8: MENU STYLE TO SUIT YOUR VENUE & PLANS
Whether a sit down meal suits the event, a mouth-watering degustation or a more casual canapé style menu will suit best with the other activities planner; your Personal Chef will have all bases covered (including optional wait staff and event styling).
REASON 9: LEARN TRICKS & TIPS OF THE TRADE
These experiences can be interactive; enjoy getting a glimpse of your Chef at home in action as the food is being prepared and plated right in your kitchen.
REASON 10: NO CLEAN UP
Last, but not least, you don’t have to do any cleaning up! This may be the best reason. Your Personal Chef keeps the kitchen tidy as the courses go out; and in the end when all of the dishes are done, the kitchen is left cleaner than when your Chef arrived.
It’s like going to a restaurant but in the comfort of your own home; leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the night’s activities!
For your Hen’s Night with a difference, hiring your own Personal Chef sounds like just the thing!

So, you have the task of organising a hens party for your favourite bride-to-be. You want it to be memorable, match her personality and style, and for everyone to have a great time.
Looking to your hen’s interests could be the key. Are they the adventurous type? The cooking fan? Or perhaps the mad keen clothes and styling gal?
What if your fun-loving hen had a taste for a little wine every now and then (it would be a rare hen that doesn’t)? They could be just starting out in the world of wine, wanting to know more; or they could be dragging you to all of the wineries in town.
If this last hen sounds familiar; then your answer could be to organise a wine tasting at home event.
WHAT DOES A WINE TASTING AT HOME INVOLVE?
WINE. GLORIOUS WINE.
A wine tasting covers activities and drinks all in one. What a clever hen friend you would be organising such an event.
It shouldn’t be pretentious and stuffy (that wouldn’t be very hensy now, would it?); and it should match the tastes of your hen and her friends. It could be:
MAKE IT UNIQUE

A good wine presenter is also desirable; and they should be able to match the tasting to meet your hen’s wine preferences, whilst being entertaining for all of her guests.
