AUTHOR: BEC OF 'FOR EVERY HEN'
Have you ever seen jumbo confetti balloons (or any kind of confetti balloons for that matter!) in person? They are AH-MAZING! And I'll let you in on a little secret... they're actually not that hard to make ❤
If you would like to create your very own show-stopping decorations, check out the step-by-step instructions!
STEPS 1 &2: CHOP IT!
Cut each of the tissue paper packs into squares and rectangles (or any shape you wish to fill your balloons with - other examples are at the end of this article). Don't worry about making them perfect (as you can see, some of mine are cut on angles); once the balloon is inflated you won't notice at all. In fact, a bunch of different sized shapes put together actually looks quite amazing!
STEP 3: FILL YOUR BALLOON
The beauty of giant balloons is the opening at the top is quite large - meaning you can easily put your confetti inside. To fill, grab a couple of confetti pieces at a time, dropping them into the neck of the balloon. If any pieces get stuck, shake the balloon gently and the confetti will fall to the base.
Continue filling your balloon until it is approximately half full (if you want the confetti to cover LOTS of your inflated balloon) or 1/4 full (if you're just after the confetti 'look').
I often go with the half full balloons as I love the finished product, but it is entirely up to you and your preferences!
STEP 4: BLOW THEM UP
Inflate your confetti balloons to a size you're happy with (try not to pop them; and if you do brace for #confettishowers!). Once inflated, rub your hands over the edges of your balloon and the confetti will 'fly' and stick to the sides.
Alternatively, inflate with helium (however this will be an added cost - LOTS of helium is required for jumbo balloons!). Once again, to make the confetti stick simply run your hands over the outside of your balloon. Please note, when helium is used the confetti may not attach - keep this in mind when deciding on whether or not you wish to invest the extra $$$.
To decorate your event with air-filled balloons, hang them from the ceiling or trees, have them rolling around the place, etc.
To decorate with helium-filled balloons, attach a string to the tied end of each balloon and strategically place them around your venue.
To make, follow the above instructions; filling with triangles (cut into a number of sizes and/or colours) as pictured below.
To make, follow the above instructions; filling with miniature rectangles (approximately 1cm long and 5mm wide) as pictured below.
I'm always excited to see DIY decor in action and would LOVE for you to share your beautiful jumbo confetti balloons (in all their glory!) with me in the comments below (or via social media: Facebook | Facebook Group | Instagram).
Cheers to an AMAZING celebration (with the most amazing decorations)!
Much love, keep smiling - Bec x
