For a lemon themed event, you may like to mix a variety of yellows and greens with different shades of white. Natural textures such as wood and jute will also compliment this celebration nicely.

Let's talk about your main squeeze menu, starting with foods for the citrus lovers.

With lemon meringue pie, lemon slice, lemon chicken, lemon scones, lemon bars, lemon cheesecake, lemon tart, lemon cake and lemon crumble being just some of the many on-theme recipes available, it's easy to find a sour snack (or meal) perfect for your occasion.

If you don't really enjoy the flavour of this fruit, you might like to serve a range of foods that match your colour palette instead.

Using the example palette from earlier, offering a range of yellow, green, cream and white finger foods is an easy way to tie your edibles to the rest of the event. Some examples include donuts, cakes, cupcakes  and cake pops (all iced in one of your party colours), green salads, potato chips, mini sandwiches, bagels, lollies, cheese, and crackers.

And finally, there is the option of signage.

​Rather than stressing about colours, place a themed sign on the table that encourages guests to dig in! The words 'Let's Squeeze in Some Food', for example, would be ideal for your Main Squeeze party.

Add Lemony Goodness to Your Drinks Table

For those who want to incorporate lemons in their drink menu, you really can't go past a good old fashioned lemonade bar/stand!

CHOOSE YOUR BASE
First of all, you will need to decide on the type of 'look' you're after. A white base (e.g. tablecloths, serving bowls, etc.) is the best way to emphasise colours; giving you a bright, fresh feel. On the other hand, a rougher base (e.g. wooden or palette tables) will add more of a rustic vibe.



ADD SOME COLOUR
As this theme is dedicated to our favourite sour fruits, don't be afraid to use them. Lemons can be overflowing from bowls, strategically placed on tables amongst greenery, sliced up in jugs of water, frozen into ice-cubes, and more. 

​When it comes to the other décor, use a mix of yellows, greens and white, along with rustic accents if you wish (such as burlap, twine and wooden display boxes).

Pretty yellow and white flowers mixed with green leaves can be displayed on tables, beside doorways, and near anything you wish to draw attention to (such as a photo booth). Flower garlands are another amazing décor option (although may cost a pretty penny), as are potted lemon trees.

Reusable paper pom poms can also be a welcome inclusion to the day. A garland created with white and yellow of all sizes would look stunning, especially if you added some natural greenery to it as well.

SELL IT
A fun game for parties heading out and about.

​Put together a pack of lemon related objects/products. How ludicrous these items are is entirely dependent on the vibe of your party (e.g. if you want 18+ shenanigans, include some cheekier items. Want to keep things a little more low key? Stick to items that won't offend).

EXAMPLE ITEMS INCLUDE:

• Food items: lemon flavoured kombucha, actual lemons (freshly picked!), a box of lemon flavoured tea bags
• Gifts: lemon tree seedlings
• Pamper products: ​lemon soap bars, lemon scented lip balm
• Other items: ​outfits with lemon themed prints (search the op shop for these!), recipe cards featuring your favourite lemon treats or dishes

To play, give this party pack to your hen and explain that she is to try and sell what's inside throughout the night. Any money she makes should go towards buying something she really wants (such as a cocktail or that food she's been craving all afternoon).

Fun Tip:
Get guests involved in the game by asking them to hit up some op shops prior to the party; bringing along ONE of their favourite lemony finds for your hen to sell. It will be hilarious to see what everyone turns up with!



DON'T BE SOUR
At the start of the event, hand a yellow peg (with cute lemon cutout details) to one lucky guest. They are now the 'sour one', and it is their mission to try and attach this little peg to another guest without that person noticing.

Once the peg has been attached to someone, the 'sour one' counts down from 10 as loud as they can. If they reach 0 without the peg being found, the pegged person becomes 'the sour one'. However, if the peg is found before reaching 0, they have to complete a punishment (such as taking a big swig from a drink, or putting on a costume accessory) before finding their next victim!
